We are very happily married and we have lived in the same house in Cape Town since we married in 1980.

Prior to 1980, while still studying and working, we lived on a small-holding, which was part of a larger farm. During this time we had a ball, growing our own vegetables, herbs and flowers, while indulging in Nature. We raised our menagerie of domestic pets alongside the sheep, goats and chickens. Bliss!

We have two adult sons, Jamie and Simon:
Jamie is married and together with his wife, Elizna, run a busy backpackers hostel in Jefferies Bay, South Africa, which is a surfer’s paradise. See www.jaybay.co.za. Before they opened 3 years ago we helped them get it into shape in preparation for the first guests; putting up many dry-wall partitions and shelves, cleaning drains, mending furniture, painting, scrubbing and cleaning.

Our younger son, Simon, together with his partner, Ingrid, are house-sitting for us while we are away. They run a small publishing company from home. See www.publishbooks.co.za They are avid gardeners, nature lovers and Martial Arts devotees.

Although we have Swiss passports and Swiss family in Lausanne, Switzerland, we only speak a little French – just enough to get by.

We are avid non-smokers, and follow a simple philosophy by aiming to live “in the moment”. We try not to worry about the past or the future, and try to enjoy each moment of each day with passion and joy, because no-one knows what tomorrow may bring. Expressing thanks and gratitude daily brings much joy into our lives.
